Australian National Maritime Museum
SHIPS, CLOCKS & STARS
With clockmakers from England coming to reconstruct a 1000-part masterpiece at the National Maritime Museum, the marketing team naturally wanted to capture this remarkable process on film.
Mixing conventional cameras with timelapses lasting several days, LCB recorded the installation of John Harrison's H3, a clock that helped to end the centuries old "longitude problem" and transform navigation at sea.
In editing we combined this historical story with the nerve-wracking modern process of building H3, aiming to engaging the Maritime Museum's audience on an emotional, intellectual and aesthetic level all at the same time.
“Shooting this video required great sensitivity due to the antiques involved, yet LCB managed to be super careful and still create an amazing result! We were thrilled with their work.”
